MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the organization shall be open to all small growers, as defined by the Tea Board of India -- without regard to race, religion, national origin, physical or mental handicap or gender – who are willing to abide by guidelines set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws.
Membership will be limited to those growers whose gardens are not less than ½ bigha and not greater than 75 bighas in size from the states of Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Sikkim.
Membership will include growers wanting to take up organic tea cultivation and production, not only to those who practice Certified Organic production as defined by India’s National Program for Organic Production (NPOP) www.apeda.gov.in/apedawebsite/organic/organic_contents/english_organic_sept05.pdf
Members will be classified as Individual or Associate.
a) Individual Membership grants full organizational benefits, including voting privileges, to an individual. It is nontransferable and nonrefundable.
b) Associate Members may be invited to take part in the organization to serve as information and guidance for the Executive Committee. They may be representatives of a corporation, institution, or other organization. These positions will be chosen and dissolved by the Executive Committee as needed. Associate Members do not have voting privileges. There will only be one representative representing any organization.
Annual membership fees will be Rs. 500 per member. Any changes to the upcoming year's dues will be proposed by the Executive Committee at the annual membership meeting and will be voted on by the membership.
To be eligible to vote, members must have completed the membership application form, have filed their contact information with the Secretary and have paid membership dues in full.
