PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIC SMALL TEA GROWERS ASSOCIATION OF NORTH EAST INDIA:
The association will unite small tea growers in the eight states in north east India who are interested in taking up the organic cultivation and the processing of tea. Through their efforts, the association will:
The association will unite small tea growers in the eight states in north east India who are interested in taking up the organic cultivation and the processing of tea. Through their efforts, the association will:
- improve the economic viability of small tea gardens.
- help preserve and protect traditional culture,
- help to strengthen the local and regional economy by encouraging creation of related business ventures, such as the manufacture and sale of specialized equipment (eg. dryers and compost “tea” brewers) and production of inputs such as vermicompost and liquid formulas,
- facilitate collective learning and the sharing of resources,
- protect the environment by using natural and sustainable practices, and
- foster positive connections and working relationships between growers from various parts of the north east.
