Plants for controlling fungus infection in tea                                              Control of Helopeltis - Tea Mosquito

A Multi-purpose Formula for Improving Soil and Plant Health
Contributed by Tenzing Bodosa, Dimakuchi Village, Dist. Udalguri, Assam
This formula is very beneficial for building up soil productivity and for the total health of plants. It will also help protect plants from many harmful insects.

In a large plastic container or cement tank, make a liquid solution of 50% water, 20% cow urine and 10% cow manure (gobar).

Collect 5 kg. each of ferns (dhekia) and neem leaves.  If possible, add some bitter leaves (5 or more varieties is best).  Cut the leaves into 3” pieces, then slightly pound or crush them to release the liquid stored in the leaves.

Place the leaves in the tank containing the liquid solution and mix well.   Soak the leaves in the liquid solution for 10 to 15 days.

To add oxygen to the solution and to prevent it from developing a bad smell, you should stir the mixture clockwise and counterclockwise for several minutes two times every day

After 10 to 15 days, strain this solution with cloth.   The solution should then be diluted with fresh water, using 1 part solution to 10 - 20 parts of water.

This formula can be used to spray tea, vegetables or other crops.  In a 15 liter spray machine, you should place 1 to 2 liters of solution.  Then fill the rest of the tank with water.   Before using, shake the tank well to mix the solution with the water.

Note:  Adding 1 liter of compost at the base of the plant will act as a soil conditioner and ensure good crop yields.
